Nigerian students
issue warning to presidential candidates
The
student body has appealed to presidential candidates to avoid violence in
during their campaigns.

The
National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) issues a warning to
presidential candidates.
Daily Post reports
that the National Public Relations Officer of NANS, Bestman Okereafor is
calling on presidential candidates to avoid violence in during their campaigns.
In a statement issued on Monday, October 8, 2018, in Enugu state,
he also advised security agencies to do better in order to maintain law and
order during the electioneering period.
He said, "The leadership of the apex
students' body, NANS, wishes to congratulate all political parties for the
good, peaceful and fair conduct oplayNANS: Nigerian students warn

"NANS leadership is set to
partner with the Independent National Electoral Commission and organized civil
societies in the aspect of massive voters sensitization and
enlightenment."
Okereafor concluded, "As a non-partisan but
formidable body and major determinant of elections, we pray that Almighty God
will give victory to a progressive-minded leader who will take us to the
promise land."

Meet the new NANS President
The National Association of Nigerian Students has a
new president named Comrade Danielson Bamidele
Akpan.
He won the election with a total number of 104 votes out of 272
delegates that participated in the exercise. This makes him the first student
from Nassarawa
State University to become NANS President.
Since becoming the 32nd NANS president, Akpan has banned student unions from giving awards to
individuals, politicians and corporate organizations.
He has also promised that Nigerian students under his leadership will not be
used again as tools for political vendetta.
